Hektor Monteiro is a permanent professor at the Institute of Physics and Chemistry (IFQ) whose research focuses on stellar evolution, the interstellar medium, and planetary nebulae. He specializes in numerical modeling, photoionization, and the study of planetary nebulae and open clusters, often employing high-performance computing to simulate complex astrophysical processes. His recent work includes high-profile international collaborations using the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) data, integral field spectroscopy from the Very Large Telescope (VLT) and SOAR data to model mass-loss and nebular shaping.
